AZ trail thru hike 6 days till

So I’ve goon through the maps, I’ve saved up money, I’m moved all my bills to auto pay and to the lowest usage, and I’ve packed up everything into one backpack and a hip bag.

Hammock testing

I’ve opted to go with a hammock setup, it’s supposed to be better sleep then a tent plus my hammock it set up to be used by idiots so even I am able to set it up. You can see a very helpful demonstration of the hammock in the first photo, the second photo is my sleeping bag, and the tarp to cover my hammock to keep rain out/gather condensation.

Here’s everything I am planning to bring with me clothing wise. Realistically I am probably bringing to many. Ignoring undergarments I have 3 total pairs of pants 6 total shirts, a jacket, hat, 2 scarves/extra fabric lengths and 2 pairs of gloves, plus boots, socks ect.

I am also fairly loaded up on medical supplies, things like a wrist and a knee brace plus ace bandage, several vitamin supplements, both over the counter medications and some that I’m proscribed. Tweezers, qtips sunscreen ect. Plus things like peppermint oil to help with upset stomachs.

Food wise the big things I am bringing are two pounds of cornmeal, a full jar of peanut butter and a full jar of coconut oil and a total of 4 gallons of water carrying capacity, I will likely not carry quite that much but if I need to I can. Also I have some freeze dried mushrooms and several different freeze dried soups plus as a special extra dark chocolate covered coffee beans.

Odds and ends most of which will be in my hip bag, extra lighter, solar charger, headlamp, emergency beacon, shovel, and unsurprisingly a sketch book and other art supplies. Also pictured camp shoes/water crossing shoes, I am unlikely to really need them in a desert but having some extra shoes to let my feet relax seemed like a good idea.

All my water purification stuff, plus my collapsible bucket, camp soap, repair kit extra fire starter extra alcohol pads (there’s more in the med kit as well) and want are supposed to be scent proof bags.

Lastly and probably most important to me, art supplies, 6 gesso panels in 3 sizes, an extra cup to clean brushes, 13 types of acrylic paint 3 yellow, 4 red, 3 blue and one white and one brown. Also slow dry acrylic blender and two small clear plastic boxes to act as carrying pallettes. I also have an extra pad to sit on and an umbrella to help keep the sun off my paintings while I make them. I guess I’m ready to go then.
